Audio CD burning problem

    Hi,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me. I have a Samsung CDRW/DVD combo drive and I've been having a few problems lately when burning audio CD's from MP3's or WAV's.

I usually use Roxio easy CD creator to burn music CD's and lately the audio quality of the CD has been pretty bad. Some tracks are fine but others have a crackling/hissing sound, kind of like the sound you get when you increase the volume level to audio saturation, but my problem is independent of the volume I play the CD at. It happens regardless. Also, the problem is not due to dodgy MP3's or WAV's as they play perfectly on Winamp or Media Player with no sound problems at all.

I've tried using Nero to burn a few CD's, but have had the same problem. Has anyone seen this type of thing before, or is my CD rewriter just on it's last legs. It's about 2 and half years old now. Is it time to get a new one ?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds a bit odd. What it like at burning data cd's? How do they come out?
Did you try using different media?

The drive burns at 32X and I thought it might have been the discs but I've tried 2 other brands since and still have the same problem. I think the drive itself is probably at fault.
