NTL has introduced a scrolling message on Dublin's analogue Nickelodeon/TMF on 248MHz advising customers to retune to 264MHz (previously the encrypted Sky Sports 1). This is to make way for Setanta Sports.

Yeah, just after seeing it. I noticed yesterday alright that TMF was on the formerly encrypted Sky Sports location & thaught it must have been something to do with setantas launch.

Can't wait for it to start :D

Isn't it only on weekends until next year. Thats a massive waste of bandwidth which could be used for digital. I wonder what will be shown weekdays?

    :dunno: Good question that.

Perhaps another digital channel will be shown during Setanta's intermissions.

Could ntl Technical or somebody shed some light on this?

TBH, I would prefer if Setanta was shared with CNBC or something instead.

I can only presume that it is because if they were to put it directly on the old Sky Sports location al lot of people wouldn't have it tuned in on their set & therefore they wouldn't know Setanta was available. This way they are getting some advertising for the channel & it is already tuned in to everyones box & it gives people instructions on how to get Nickelodeon/TMF back.

CNBC already has a channel all of its own. And I like it!! (Maybe I'm just wierd).

Setanta Sports... hmm, wonder if they will share it with another channel, but would a channel sign a carrige deal in the knowledge that it would have a definite end-date (whenever Setanta goes full time).

    Here's two ideas:

    1) Guest Channel (like NTL UK) - could be used to show off digital-only channels.
    2) Bring Back The Multi-Image Channel!!!! (Okay, I'm not serious on that one).

is that the one with all the channels on the screen at one time

NTL in waterford should put something useful on it

Well serious or not, the Multi-image channel was cool and very useful for seeing at-a-glance what was on, or for retuning the telly

Plus the centre screen/Noticeboard used to run on an Amiga! I even saw the dreaded RED Screen of Death come up on occasion :)

I had a fealing they would kick Sky Sports 1 off 401.

I wonder if it will be in widescreen.

The man u v norwich game is down for sat 21st of Aug @ 2.45pm. It was confirmed earlier this month that this fixture had been moved to a 5.15pm KO time and will now be shown live on Sky Sports 2

It can now be assumed that Setanta will not be covering this game

That's bad form kicking Sky Sports off 401. NTL are obviously getting some kick back for giving Setanta premium locations on analogue and digital.
