Telephone jack thingy

When I try to dial-up using a telephone lead connected directly to the modem jack on my pc, it tells me that the modem is not connected.
I have a lead with an output on one end and two inputs on the other end (one labelled 'phone' and the other labelled 'line') and it dials up fine with that but unfortunately I am using it on another machine.
If I had another one it would solve my problem.
Does anyone know a site where I could buy one?
    Cheers

You need an ordinary telephone extention cable...one with a "glass" type plug on either end.
they are available in different lengths and most hardware stores stock them.
    woodies is a sure bet.
if you are absolutely unsure woodies have a 12 ft coiled lead which has a plug on each end (similar to the lead connecting the handset to the base on every phone)

    regards

You'll basically get them anywhere lukin and they're so cheap that it's pointless buying online. Regular phone cable does it for me but any computer store will have some "special" stuff (higher priced of course but still reasonable) that wouldn't make a damn of a difference to me (good line, middle of city, one phone, one modem, right next to the socket) but might make a difference if you're 50 metres away from the main socket and living on Inisturk. I'd get the cheap crap from Roches or wherever myself but any shop that sells phones or computer parts will have higher rated stuff cheap. The connector we use in Ireland is an RJ-11 by the way if it helps at all.
