I have a pint of milk in a carton, the ones you tear the top of.
And on the side it says
    ONCE OPENED, STORE UPRIGHT

This has to be one of the stupidest warnings ever...

I think that Sainsbury's deserves a note of explanation for this. Fortunately I can supply one.

They're not really THAT stupid, it just seems that way.

The warning is for the benefit of those who suffer from nut allergies. A sufferer who comes into contact with nuts often becomes very ill within a few minutes, and this can even be fatal. A recent spate of lawsuits in the UK has forced distributors of products WHICH MIGHT CONTAIN NUTS, or traces of nuts, to put a warning on their packaging.

So what's this with peanuts? Actually, peanuts aren't really nuts. Another name for the peanut is the ground nut, and in fact they grow as underground swellings on the roots of the plant. That's right, they're tubers. Just reflect that real nuts are the fruit of the plant, which grow above ground after the flower has died.

    Final connection now ...

Since peanuts LOOK like nuts, they tend to be processed in the same way as real nuts, carried in the same sacks from the farm, and packed using the same machinery. Hence it's possible for traces of real nuts to get inside a bag of peanuts. It has been shown that only minute traces are necessary to trigger a nut allergy, and hence the warning on the packet.

    Amusing, though. Nice website.

    Regards,

    Andy Symes.

Got one, can't remember what allergy tablet it was but on the leaflet it read:

"Proven to work for all allergies!..."

At the bottom in very small print...
"Not suitable for people with allergic reactions to anti-hystamines"

    anti-hystamines = allergy tablets

Still have all fingers hands etc too.

Oh and whats wrong with breast feeding in public. if they wanna, fair enough....

    One of my favourites:

    Lucent Technologies Model 6210 Telephone

The following is found on page 4 of the instruction book:

    1. To place or answer a call, lift the handset.
    2. To place a call, dial the desired number.
    3. To end the call, hang up the handset.

Another gem, also on Page 4:

To put a call on Hold:

    Press "Hold".

Now, seriously, you have to bear in mind that not everyone is as smart as boards.ie members.

If there's one thing I hate, it's people.
