The current sleep paralysis thread reminded me that I have another personal quirk I never asked anyone about. Here's the jist of it; about 4 years ago I called around to a friend's house - I saw him through the window but he didn;t see me, so I decided to bash the window and basically frighten the ****e out of him. Just as I went to do so my head felt all light and my legs buckled a bit - although I didn't faint I felt pretty close to it. Ever since then whenever I go to do something like surprise someone or occasionally just slag them off I get the same sensation. Anyone else ever get this?

This is very interesting. I have something similiar happen to me aswell.

When I get upset by someone saying something harsh to me, or when I feel left out and alone when, say, I find out I wasn't asked to go out the night before I get a sudden and small numbing pain where my left arm joins my chest, somewhere between my armpit and shoulder. It is strange, because I only ever feel it when I get those kind of emotions and I remember only starting to have it in the last few years.

    It's cool though.

Strange that it always happens, but perhaps you just got up quickly... lack of blood to the brian, makes you feel light headed, almost made me black out once :)

either that or space monkeys are probing your brain while you sleep!!!!

I know what you mean! With me it's when i get angry at people, and I have to be fairly furious, i get a weird tingling feeling on my head, from my forehead up into my scalp and down my neck. I'm sure there's a phisyological reason for it, like adrenalin kicking in or something, but it is weird.

As for yours, dare I suggest it might be a manifestation of psycological problem with being nasty to others, or having others be nasty to you?

I get exactly the same feeling in job interviews and one to ones - I dont think its nerves coz its a really good feeling - like going under gas at the dentist.

And this is not a troll but does anyone get any strange effects from tuna - my cheeks go really oily about 3 bites into a tunny sambo. (and no Im not missing my mouth ;) )

I know exaclty what you mean, I think its a reaction that takes place when you recieve attention from someone or someone is being very positive towards you. It feels like a tingling sensation, and its really nice, I wonder what it is known as because its really cool

It's just adrenaline effects. Although the light-headedness could be due to adrenal fatigue - happens when you're under a lot of stress whether it be external or internal(taking too many stimulants etc.) - your adrenals become slow at providing adrenaline when you need it (for example when sitting up quickly or standing for long periods).

I used to get that when I was younger, whenever someone confronted me or shouted at me I used to feel ill on top of the above feelings.
Funnily enough it just dissapeared I think its just you get used to not being afraid or get more comfortable for your own actions perhaps. I blacked out once when I got a fright in school because I got my finger caught. I think its related to the flight or fright thing.

I get this feeling when I'm talking to a doctor...not sure why...generally just a doctor. I'm sure there are other examples, but I can't recall any...

if i stroke the back of my left hand really gently i can an itch on the left side of my face that i gotta scratch, seen on the telly that the part of the brain responsible for sensory input from the hands is right beside the part that receives it from the face and sometimes the is a slight crossover, prolly the same for you

Yes, I'm a thread necromancer, I don't care. But it was a good thread.

I find sometimes that I'll suddenly remember something embarrassing that I've said or done in the past (obviously linked to whatever I'm thinking about at the time), and I'll have a kind of brief attack of Tourette's syndrome or summat - I'll spout rubbish to myself for a second or two. Weird, eh?

Sounds like a dopamine rush, which can be reproduced via, ehm, chemicals.

Quite fitting seeing as that's what happened when you dredged up this thread!

They aren't connected. Your brain builds up an 'image' of your body, so when it's touched in a certain place your body realises it was that part of the body and 'places' the spot for you (all subconsciously, naturally). Were you ever hit over the head/been in accident or anything like that? Stroke survivors and people who have had a trauma to the brain can experience things like you've described. It's basically caused by a short circuit in the brain, where when one spot is stimulated (your inner elbow) it triggers both the inner elbow and tongue 'body image' spots at the same time in your conscious brain.
