Some potentially good news for those in the Shannon region from the Business section of to-day's Irish Times:
Shannon Development plans to develope a netowrk of e-towns to promote the use of the internet and new technology it said yesterday.

The agency will team up with local authorities in four areas to develope the towns which will offer BB connectivity and community training and development.

Towns to take part in the programme are; Milltown Malbay, Clare; Cappamore, LImerick; Newport, Tipperary; and Tarbert Kerry, A town in Offaly will be added in 2005.

Investment in the construction of each e-town is estimated at €3-€4m which will be funded by a public private partnership.

This was mentioned in the business news section of 5-7 live yesterday afternoon - I meant to dig out a link to it. Maybe someone could do it before today's program overwrites it.
