Hi, I'm just wondering does anyone know a general guideline prices for digital pianos (not keyboards) in Ireland. What would you expect to pay to get a good quality digital piano - any example prices (including model numbers if possible) or websites would be greatly appreciated. I'm abroad at the moment and they range from about 700 - 1000 euro over here. I'm looking at roughly 800euro for what I want. I'll be here for another few months and wondering is it worth buying here or wait till I come back to Ireland.

    Thanks,
    Bacchus

email Waltons at marketing@waltonsmusic.ie. They'd be the best people to ask about prices (their site doesn't have prices on it unfortunately)

Well, I'm fortunate enough to have got a Yamaha Clavinova CP-170 recently... (I'm still salivating at it now)

It was a pretty big purchase, as you can imagine, so I did a good bit of research on prices and stuff beforehand. Here's where I get bitter. It was cheaper for me to:

Ring a place in Manchester, get them to import the piano from Germany, price and pack it and then send it via UPS to me in Dublin

    then it was to:

Walk into the Yamaha store on Aungier St and pay them cash

In fact, it was just over €1000 cheaper to do it that way. I know that you're probably not spending as much as I did, but I'd seriously look into importing it. I'd imagine the worst you could do is get a better piano for the same price.

No matter what it is - it will be cheaper not in Ireland than in Ireland.

I got a Casio PS20 from Music123 in the states. I had loads of problems with it, for a host of reasons I am too lazy to go into. But the fact of the matter is that it all worked out ok in the end, and two of my friends have since mimicked my purchase without any problems.

Even with VAT and import duties taken into account, the piano is a good bit cheaper than in Dublin.
