Never done it before but I have signed up for it this year. Just a great chance to learn from more experienced photographers and (if the weather is good) have a nice easy weekend in the city (without being dragged up and down Grafton street shopping)...

    You going to be there?

I was at this last year, it was a very worthwhile experience.

The weather had a lot to do with it though, as it was a glorious wekend.

The standard was surprising. Not that you'd know it, but there are a lot of talented folk out there. However, you don't need to be a Baileyto join in, I'm certainly not, but I learned a good bit from talking to others and seeing what was on display.

    See you there.

    How does it work?
Are you expected to price each print? Or can you simply go along and show your work? Is the work judged or marked in some way? The site seems informative but very little is mentioned about the process.

This comes at an interesting time as friends keep telling me to show my work to others but I'm worried about how best to do it. I may enter this but I don’t think I'll be selling my work just yet.

    Paulj -

There's no pressure to sell at all, in fact the organisers would rather not turn it into a Merrion Square type of affair. You just turn up and show your stuff. If you want to sell pics, they'd rather you do it a bit more discretely, they give out little sheets that you can hang beside your display, but it's up to you.

I sold 2 last year, black and whites. I didn't make a fortune on them, just enough to cover my parking on the Green on the Saturday.

Which reminds me - that is a problem, parking. If you have a mate that can drop you in with your stuff, avail of him/her. Otherwise you have to put up with Dublin's overpriced city centre carparks :dunno:

I'll be there with a view to just showing, but if someone wants to buy I will certainly not discourage. I have a couple of shots that I might make a copy or two of, just to keep on display if one goes.

In realtion to parkingon the green. I heard somewhere that as long as there is someone in the car they can't move you or charge you. I'm sure it's just pub talk but can anyone confirm?? If its true you could ge a parking spot near your stall and just have turns (with friends or family) listening to the radio or reading.

Wouldn't be too sure about the sitting in the car thing. I doubt the clampers would accept the 'bloke down the pub' excuse :D

Parking is only a problem on the Saturday anyway, Sunday you can use streets over Leeson St direction for nowt.

Got 3 of the 9 images I'm hoping to show printed and framed. Quite looking forward to this.
