new (well not entirely) motherboard time

Right, so the motherboard on my parent's pc is fried, and I'm looking for the cheapest solution to fix it. Its an old pc, AMD 350mhz, 64mb sdram, integrated sound and video. They only use the pc for the internet really, so theres no point in slashing out for a top of the line mobo. Now the problem lies herein. I need to find a board that has integrated sound and video, takes an old amd processor (k6-2) and will take sdram.

so... are any new boards compatible with old parts like these? I've checked peats and komplett. They have a load of new motherboards, offering support for ddr ram and athlons, but I see nothing about sdram or k6-2s. I dont want to order the original motherboard from compaq because that would probably cost a fortune. I'm looking for the cheapest solution, and I'm not looking for any performance increase, so bear that in mind.

    any help is greately appreciated.

I would think the cheapest option would be to replace the motherboard/ram/processor with new, low end stuff. Probably a lot less hassle than tring to source relatively ancient parts for their current system.

You might have to worry about a new case too if its an old compaq...might not be atx standard.

jesus christ. New mobo, new processor, new memory. maybe a new case. I'd be as well to just take out the HD and put it in a second hand pc

You can easily build a new case with everything in it for 450 euros including delivery if you keep your old screen - why not just do that? There will be a very nice boost in power and performance after using that ancient k6-2.
