    Hey,

Just bought a second hard drive (maxtor 100gb ata133). Anyways I've plugged it in physically. What do I do now to get it to show up? How do I format it etc. ? When windows started up (2k) it recognised that new hardware was connected but no drive showed up. I assume this is normal as its not in NTFS yet (I'd imagine)

Also is there anyway to directly copy over whats on my other hard drive? I've now got 220gb's and only using 15gb. Can anyone think of something to use up some space? :)

Right click My Computer and then go to Manage.
Then, go to Disk Management and format from there.

odd. It should show up there even if it's not partitioned.
Post a screenie of Disk manager.
Or, you could get a bootdisk from here , boot off it, run fdisk, change to your new disk and create a partition.
Then boot to windows and format it from Disk manager.

Anyways I've plugged it in physically.
You have the power cable AND the data cable (a big fat gray one probably) plugged in firmly and securely?

Have you set the master/slave jumper correctly. I assume so, or your computer would hang when it boots up.

Then the drive should appear in disk management. If its not there, check the bios. If its not in the bios, then its not attched properly.
