    Hi,

I'm just after purchasing an 80GB HDD to replace the 40GB I had previously. I want to copy over the entire contents of the 40GB as is to the 80GB. The 40GB is currently formatted as NTFS and want the 80GB to be NTFS as well. I don't have any utility like partition magic or pqdi. What is the quickest way of getting the entire contents copied over while keeping the 80GB appear as a single volume.

    Thanks,

    Geoff.

Take out the 40Gig and just have the 80Gig connected..install windows on it and then put the 40Gig back in on the secondary IDE channel and copy all your stuff over to the 80Gig :)

Btw it wouldent be a good idea to copy the whole contents of the 40 gig onto the new OS on the 80Gig...just copy the progs and drivers installers and your other files

I was hoping there would be some utility that would dynamically resize the partition while copying it over to the larger HDD.

Ghost Personal Edition (Trial Version) will let you do exactly what you want. Download it from the Symantec website or...spring the 30 euro to buy it in IT Direct or somewhere, well worth it's price for the registered version.
