Anotheropening vignette detailing Eugene’s hero journey from last week opens the show. After the video, Triple H walked to ringside dressed like me. All black outfit, pants and a golf shirt. Hunter admitted that what he did last week was below anything he has ever done in his life and laments over how horrible he felt because of it. Then he farted and he felt better. He told Eugene, sitting at home watching TV apparently, that he hated him and he was never his friend. According to Hunter, everyone hated him including the crowd and Eugene’s mother. Footage of last week, after the cameras went dark, rolls. Eugene did a stretcher job while Benoit and Regal sobbed. “There’s no crying in wrestling!” Bishoff comes to ringside, announcing that Eugene is gone from Raw forever all thanks to Tripe H. As reward, and to one up Smackdown!, Bishoff announces a sixty-minute Iron Man match between HHH and Chris Benoit. Eric gives Triple H the night off to rest up, while Benoit is pitted against Batista. William Regal comes out to the stage, asking the two if they are proud of them selves. He says that he is not afraid of shredding a tear, or of Hunter. He dedicates a beating to Eugene, and attacks the Game. They brawl, with Regal getting the best of it while Bishoff screams for security. Regal was restrained and dragged away as the announcers hyped the Intercontinental Title match between Edge and Orton and the ten finalists from the Diva Search being in attendance tonight.

Last week Rhyno defeated one half of the World Tag Team Champions. This week, his tag partner Tajiri took on the other half. Tajiri interrupted the French rendition of “Oh, Canada!” by Grenier, and then started a U-S-A! chant. Very sloppy match, with Tajiri cart wheeling into thin air and Grenier was selling it like the wind knocked him over. Tajiri mostly squashed Sylvain with his kicks and trademark spots before Conway interfered. Grenier hit a flapjack and held the tights for a victory. Sylvain Grenier defeated Tajiri via pin fall. An “Experience Raw Live” video aired.

The show returned with the Stacy Kielber Summerslam advertisement and the Highlight Reel. Chris Jericho announced his ten guests, the Diva Search finalists. The girls were indeed beautiful, and showed a lot of energy dancing in the ring. Jericho announced that tonight the fans could call in and vote one of the girls off the island. Each girl gave their name and hometown. Some showed more charisma than others, meaning some received fewer boos than others. Jericho told the girls that anything could happen in the WWE, and in Bishoff’s office there was an immunity envelope, and one of the girls could find it and win immunity. Jericho led the girls over the barricade and through the crowd to Bishoff’s office. This went on forever, with girls literately falling out of their clothes for the joke. Finally Bishoff entered, trying to figure out just what happened. The girls made excuses ranging from “We had a party,” to “Eugene told us we could come in here!” They told Eric about the envelope and Eric gave the girls a good heel talking to. They ratted Jericho out and an absolutely irate Bishoff informed them who he was and kicked them out.

Tomko, with Trish, took on The Hurricane. Sugar Shane brought Stacy, wearing a skirt that was more akin to a belt, to the ring with him to counter the blonde influence of the Women’s Champion. Stacy distracted Tomko with her legs, and Hurricane used he speed to control most of the short match. Trish tripped Hurricane up, and Hurricane pulled her hair to get some retribution. Tomko kicked him in the head shakily and weakly, for a three count. Tomko defeated The Hurricane via pin fall. After the match Tomko pressed Stacy for a slam. Rosey appeared, in full super hero regalia, and made the save. The announcers said he was obviously no longer in training. Backstage, Hunter took Batista aside for some words over his match with the Champion.

The announcers hyped Ric Flair’s book, and brought up the controversy of what he has said in the book. They quoted his words for Bret Hart and Mick Foley, which were not flattering. Chris Benoit took on Batista, who had Ric Flair in his corner. Benoit tried his chops, but to no effect. Batista overpowered the champion, but a body slam was reversed into three German suplexes. Still, the big man was able to take control with his power. Batista is so much better than Tomko it is startling. Benoit tripped Evolution’s monster up and went for the Sharpshooter, but Batista was able to power out twice. Benoit threw the big man outside but it was Benoit who was thrown into the ring post. Dave, as Orton calls him, began to pound Benoit out and back in the ring. Constantly, Benoit tried to fight back. Batista hit a spine buster and sat down for the UFC-style mount and pounding. He then hung Benoit up in the ropes by his foot and began kicking the Champion straight in the head repeatedly. The referee stopped the match at that, further weakening the title-holder. Chris Benoit and Batista wrestled to a no contest. Batista continued the assault after the match, giving the champion a Batista bomb and the announcers debated if Chris would be able to compete in the sixty-minute Iron Man match next week.

During the break, Benoit did an exact impersonation of Steve Austin clutching the ropes after having his neck broken. Lita standing up to Kane last week is shown, which leads into the pregnant Diva finding her Matt backstage. Matt says that he does not know how to handle it all. Lita said that she loves Matt to death, but she is having her baby with or without him. Orton talked with Todd Grisham, showing off his Legend Killer T-Shirt and reminding the world that Edge’s first title reign lasted one night. Orton promised to get his title back, and Edge appeared. He said that he did not come back to be a statistic on a T-Shirt. Edge told Randy that he has self-esteem issues, stemming from his father being Piper’s personal bitch.

Jericho had his match with Kane, stemming from their altercation during the Highlight Reel and as punishment for Jericho’s Diva prank. Jericho attacked Kane before the bell, but Kane got the best of the brawl. The Big Red Machine beat the Canadian down with power moves and a camel clutch. Jericho fought back though, hitting a reverse elbow from the ropes and using his speed to stay alive. The face plant was hit, but Kane rolled under the lionsault. Kane threw Jericho out of the ring, and went to slam Jericho into the ring post. Jericho jumped off of Kane’s shoulders and slammed the bigger man into the steel pole twice, and then landed the running enziguri. Jericho rolled into the ring, and Kane was unable to answer the official’s ten-count. The finish was enacted when Bishoff came to the stage and announced the match was to restart as no-count out, no disqualification and falls count anywhere.

We resumed with Kane in charge, but Jericho ducking under Kane’s charge to send the big man over the ropes. Chris hit a cross body to the outside from the top rope onto Kane. During the break it is shown that Kane slammed Jericho’s head into the steel set on the stage. The two fought into the crowd, where Jericho shoved a camera crane into Kane’s head. Jericho went for the pin, but Batista appeared to attack Jericho with a vicious lariat, allowing Kane to recover and get the pin. Kane defeated Jericho via pin fall.

In the Smackdown! Rebound! Kurt Angle was revealed to have been faking his injuries when he was unmasked in the JBL/Eddie Guerrero WWE Championship Cage Match.

Another Summerslam advertisement airs, this time with Chavo Classic of all people, brings the show back. Randy Orton versus Edge for the Intercontinental Championship was the main event. Some chain wrestling to start, with Edge taking control to pound Orton. Randy countered Edge while he was running the ropes, sending him throat first into them. Orton followed it up with his modified back breaker, and tossed Edge onto the guard rail and onto concrete floor below.

Orton held Edge in an animated rear chin lock, which both men sold as though it were a murder worthy of Law & Order. Edge fought to his feet with some crowd support, but both men tried cross bodies for a standing ten count. Both men got to their feet, with Edge getting the best of the repeated fists. Edge had a near fall, but the challenger answered right back with a text book drop kick for a two count of his own. Orton went to top to miss a high cross body, and Edge nearly had the match with an Oklahoma roll. Edge placed Orton on the apron via his crotch, and speared him off onto the guard rail. The Champion went to the top rope and his high risk move, a missile drop kick, was landed. Orton kicked out though, so Edge called for the spear. Randy ducked, but Edge avoided the corner and dropped Orton back on his head for another near fall. Edge went back to the top rope and tried a cross body, but hit the referee and not the challenger. Orton landed a thumb to the eye of Edge, and went to retrieve a steel chair. Before he could use it, however, Edge speared Orton down for what would have been a three count if the official was conscious. Edge tried to revive the official, and was the unfortunate recipient of a low blow and an RKO. The ref slowly crawled over to count the pin, but Edge had enough time to get him shoulder up! Both men were to their feet wobbling, and Edge hit the second spear of the match. Edge tried for the count, but the official was not quick enough with it. Orton kicked out, and stood to attempt another RKO. Edge countered it though, turning it around into a back slide pinning combination. He placed both boots up on the ropes where the referee could not see them, and landed the victory. Edge defeated Randy Orton to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

EH! Sounds ok! Wonder what they will do with Eugene now? Im sure he will ensure the win in the Iron Man match next week. Have to say, Im looking forward to it. Im a whore for Iron Man Matches

My only question is why are they having an Iron man Match a few weeks before these 2 headline Summerslam? Seems absolutely ridiculous.

This years SS looks like being the worst PPV in a long long time. There are no new feuds, the card is still empty, there is no excitement fot it.
