Peugeot Problem

    Hi,

Thought some of you guys might know what the problem is!

The Car is a 99 Peugeot 206. Here's the problem. When the temp gage reaches 50 it sounds like the fan belt/motor is whining/squealing. It actually sounds like something is going to fall off, it's soo bad. We brought it to a Peugeot garage who said all is fine (while it's obviously not), and they cant find a problem with it.

It only happens when the temp hits 50, which is only when in town traffic. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

fan switch could be gone it happened on me das car, sitting in traffic the anti freeze would boil when the fan couldnt turn on, quite simple to fix though we just bypassed the switch and left the fan on constantly, look for a thing that looks like a spark plug only stubbier near the back side of the engine thats the switch there will be a thin wire connected just ground this and the fan will be on constantly, thats just my guess from experience

The fan is directly driven by an electric motor - with the engine cool and off, with the bonnet open, check that you can turn the fan by hand. Sometimes debris can catch the fan and cause awful noise when they start up.

Try leaving the car ticking over in your driveway and watching the temp gauge rise - if the problem only happens at a particular temp, bring it back to Peugeot for investigation.
