A collective of boards members are involved in playing poker, Games >> RealWorld Games >> Poker, and a few of us are involved in setting up tournaments for the rest of poker forums readers. We are doing up posters for the local casino to advertise the event and we require a logo. If people could possibly put forward suggestions of a logo we would be very grateful. Unfortunately we are not in the profit making arena, so if we do chose a logo designed here all we can offer is a logoed t-shirt to the winning designer.

The collective's name is Suited Aces. Preferable A's of Spades.
    Any help is greatly received.
Old Logo that didn't go down too well. I like it but others did not.

    Thank You
    Gerire

For those not familiar with the game i think it would be helpful for you to explain what suited aces actually are, i.e. is it two aces of the same suit (obviously not possible with one deck), or an ace with a card of the same suit, or something else entirely?

And is the organistation just a body for arranging tournaments or is it also a team of sorts?

Suited aces are basically two Aces of Spades - i.e. the same card. And you're right - not possible with one deck but that's irrelevant.

Sorry bout that. You are right it is not possible with one deck of cards but it is kind of a running joke. Ideally it would be 2 aces of spade like in the logo attached.

At the moment we are just organising games for other poker fiends to play in. We are a team of sorts and hope to develop this side of things. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

not sure if it works or not, see what you think anyway.

Very good - but I think it needs to act as a banner.

well it would be easy enough to manipulate into a banner if you liked the logo itself.

    e.g.:

    poker_banner.gif

with your event text going in the green, presuming that would be what the banner was for.

I like it. My GF thinks it looks a bit like an ass....I kinda like that too:ninja:

I like that idea though. Could the bottom be squared off a bit?

I feel a bit weird giving suggestions given that I am completlely talentless.

I saw the ass thing myself after a while! :D

Will look at it again after a while, i think it needs a new direction. Someone else might have some suggestions.

    Definitely has potential!
Suggestion: make the A and the spade picture in the very corner of the cards bigger. There's too much white space. maybe increase the thickness of the A and picture of the spade.

maybe the centre picture in a different colour? red if the background was black? and it does look a bit like an arse.

Heres my effort, I know what I was trying to do but the attempt is woeful, if somebody could make a decent attempt at my idea ant we can see how that goes.

Simple poker table with Suited written across the top and the 2 aces to make the A, and then ces to finish it off???

I know I'm a bit late in the game but here's my attempt.

erg, if you'll forgive the A's aren't quite right :) , I don't play card games too much. Naturally enough, if you want anything altered/added let me know.

I like that. Was wondering how long it would take someone to do it.

best yet - take the ace in the suit and use it as your logo. Good to have a little play on the name.
work some banner ideas around it

We did get another suggestion from a friend of ours, what do people think of this salogo.jpg

I must say I do like the spade in the tux tho as im not sure the logo above will work on a t-shirt, caps etc. But the tuxedo spade will work anywhere

the tuxedo ace is the best so far, but i think it can be improved. Try making one that isn't so straight and symmetrical, give it a bit more life. I'd like to do up a few logos for this but i'm stuck using a net cafe in london for the next month or so :/

    impr0v,
I presume that first logo you posted was created from scratch?
Just wondering: how did you do the curves etc. in the logo?

    S.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,647 ✭✭✭impr0v

Yer, it was. I used the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator to draw the paths, and then the direct selection tool (sub select) to modify the curves.

  • Subscribers Posts: 9,716 ✭✭✭CuLT

Macromedia Flash is great for the curves too if you can get your mits on it.

Improv, much thanks! I took the two logos you did and pressed the Mash-These-Together button in Photoshop and got our nice little logo!

See my new sig or www.suitedaces.com to see it in action. Thanks man!

no probs. I can give you the illustrator files if you wanna play with them or export at a higher quality. The gif i posted was just as an example and the suited aces device looks a little grainy at the edges.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,587 ✭✭✭gerire

improv thanks for the great effort im sure devore and myself could make great usage if the illstrator files. If you could email them to us at devore, gerire, either or both, @ suitedaces.com it would be really appreciated
