    Tried Wado before.

    Regardless of my own beliefs on effectiveness etc (BJJ/MMA is more my bag). I'll assume that you want to compare Wado Vs similar styles i.e Shotokan,Goju Ryu, TKD, etc.

    I used to do winter courses with Iwasaki Sensei a japanese instructor who teaches in Dublin and Navan (I think). He was a good instructor and well respected.

    My understanding is that in open Karate championships Wado would beat other styles as they emphasise more movement than other more linear styles. Also Wado Ryu contains a lot of traditional jiu jitsu techniques and closely ties into Yoshin Ryu Aiki-Jiu Jitsu.

    Dunno about weapons. Kata wise it contains more jiu-jitsu than other Karates.

    If its pure sparring you want maybe look up Paddy Clint (posts here) and learn a bit of Muay Thai. IMHO thats the best sparring striking art there is.
