Ahmed was evicted with a massive 56% of the vote this evening.

Finally, the voting figures were up to respectable levels again: this week, 1,688,101 were cast in all.

Of those, 945,535 (56%) voted for Ahmed, 23,778 (1.41%) voted for Daniel, 80,797 (4.79%) voted for Nadia, 63,154 (3.74%) voted for Shell, 91,264 (5.41%) voted for Stuart and 483,573 (28.65%) voted for Victor.

I'd really love to know why the public vote out the contentious characters (even when they don't like em). Are they really so attached to (or irked by) these players that they value 'level of fondness' over pure entertainment?

To see what I mean, I dislike(d) Nadia & Marco immensely but I still wanted them to make it to the final four along with Jason & Victor because I recognised that those 4 had the highest entertainment value and the highest potential to get a reaction out of each other.

I wish people would start viewing BB more as a twisted sociological experiement and less as a 'who do I like/dislike?' popularity contest and then vote appropriately as all the latter ever results in a final 14 days with a majority of boring sit-on-the-fence nobodys trying desperately not to say or do the wrong thing until they cross the finishing line.

Even fans of the show can't deny that it makes for terrible television.

    It's because they can.
The viewers can't stand the inmates thinking that they are popular or liked so they want to teach them a lesson.
    Human nature.

Yep, couldn't agree more, Victor will probably be booted out next, once he goes then BB loses the shred of entertainment value that it had left. Do you guys honestly want to look at Stuart making kissy faces with Michelle and Shell talking about rice pudding?

1000% agreement. It's why I stopped watching the show - who the hell wants to watch a bunch of people being nice to each other? It's not like when the contestants come out of the house that they're going to hang out with the voters or if Stuart or Alex or whomever the teenage girls fancy are going to ask them out
I want conflict! At least there's more of that this year (although my viewing is patchy at best) and not an English reality-show version of "Friends".

Good good, hopefully Victor will leave next week.

And I had only just begun to enjoy Ahmed, after the boot camp week. :(

    Don't bet on it.
If BB think he'll go, they won't let him, they know what would happen with ratings.
Expect a fix of some sort eg another wierd nominations task or something.

If I'm wrong ... well tombstone BB

If anything I think they'll do exactly the opposite and do their hardest to get Vic evicted!

Remember BB care more about ratings spikes than quality television and evicting guys like Victor will give them exactly what they are looking for ... (1) massive public votes (2) a high ratings night (3) contraversy.

For a comparison just look at the case of Jon 'Interesting' Tickle. Last year Jon survived something like 3 1v1 public votes so IMHO the producers finally rigged it so that he would be almost certainly evicted by making a double eviction night where 2 out 3 would walk.

They knew that as many people liked Jon as hated him and that he would be hard to beat 1v1. However if it was Jon v 'Two others' then his fanatics would probably split their vote down the middle of his opponents and that he would end up losing out as a result. This of course is what eventually happened.

I have a high suspicion they will stitch Victor up in a similar way because even though he got booed this week he still has enough fans to ensure he has a good chance of beating anyone he's up against.

If they have double eviction night (or similar) involving him anytime over the next two weeks then you'll know the reasons why!

Well, Davina made us all feel teased on Friday night saying "Will there be an eviction next week? Tune in next friday...." so I'm really suspicious that definitely something bizarre will happen with the eviction this week.

Because they usually have 4 in the last week, it'll be 5 housemates this year(Due to the events of night 20 and the new housemates Becki replacing emma) they have unexpectedly made it for 5 housemates in the final week.

However, on Digital Spy, they say that channel4's provisional listings gives the following synopsis for Thusrsday 5th Aug(the penultimate night of BB5):

"Catch up with all the latest goings on in the Big Brother house, and see the housemates' reactions after last night's eviciton."

If correct, an eviciton will take place on Wed 4th aug!

This would make better sense if they were to have the usual final four on the Final Night, but what I think will happen is that on the final week, we'll be left with 5 housemates, but on Mon, Tue, wed & Thurs before the final night we'll lose one housemate, leaving just one housemate(The winner) to spend the last 24 hours by themselves,

    or instead,

we'll have the same pattren, but with housemates being evicted on the Tues, Wed & Thurs, when we'll just have two housemates in the final day. I think this otpon is more realistic then the latter.
