    Sniff! :(

The last remaining part of my first PC finally gave up the ghost at 6.50 pm last evening. She was a bog-standard
    SVGA 14" CRT which came with a 486 DX4 100 8mb ram.
I've had 3 "new" (ie upgrades) computers since but never changed the monitor as there was no need. For the last 2 years she had been getting a little cranky letting off "fizzting" sounds and flickering madly until I gave her a slap across the head. This worked fine but I knew it was only a matter of time....

Today I bought the fist cheapest monitor I could spot, a 14" ProView flat screen jobbie which is a culture shock to say the least with its glossy aluminium look and built-in speakers (which are utter ****e!).

Farewell my CRT friend I bet this new screen does'nt last half as long.

    Mike.

Dunno how you've coped with such a **** monitor for so long, your eyes must be killing you!
Anything less than 85Hz and my eyes hurt. I'm surprised that you replaced it with another 14" too, with 17" monitors being so cheap these days.

    He! :)

I know I'm not an "early adopter"! The reason for a small screen is simple - money but mainly space constraints.

Is this a troll? 14" monitors are so 80s.
