REDS AGREE TERMS FOR BABBEL DEPARTURE

There are also reports, however true or untrue, that Milan Baros has agreed terms with a switch to Barcelona.

    Barca In Agreement With Baros

Sad to see Babbel go as he was quite good imho before his illness and may have played more games were it not for a falling out with Houllier.

I hope the Baros rumours are untrue as I would like to see Baros get a run in the first team with either Cisse or Owen but he could be used to fund further transfer activity if Barcelona are willing to pay £10 million for him as so rumours quote.

    Latest
Barcelona president Joan Laporta revealed that his club have been put off making an immediate bid for Liverpool striker Milan Baros - although he did not rule out a move for the player in the future.

Baros' agent had earlier claimed that Catalan giants were "truly interested" in the Czech Republic player, but Laporta was keen to quell rumours of an imminent offer.

And hopefully Benitiez will do enough to keep Baros mind on Anfield not the Nou Camp.

    Mike.

They're probably trying to push the price down as I heard Liverpool were looking for in the region of £10 milliion and they don't want to cough up that much.

This leads us on to the question should Lverpool have offered Babbel a new contract when he was sick...?now I know it was a very nice thing to do and it could well have helped he recover, but in todays money mad game LFC could have had a player sit on his contract ontill it ran out and cost them a tidy sum.

It was an error but only because Hollier off-loaded him after a spat, otherwise he'd have been a regular starter I think.

They certainly try to look after players. Not only did they give Babbel a bew contract after his illness they did the same for Richie Partridge recently. He's still recovering from an ankle injury and they still gave him a contract.

But that was before Benitez took over so who know what will happen with other players in the future.

Some say Partridge was offered a new contract to help entice Owen to sign his.

That maybe very unfair on Partridge, but Richie and Michael are very good friends, and Richie goes out with and lives with Owen's sister (in a house bought by Owen!). And Owen's family is very important to him.

    The Rooster,
I heard that story....dont no if there is anything to it.Partridge is getting old now (well for a footballer) if he does not make the brake through this year he should move on.

Something like this is always what I imagined being the reason for Owen not leaving. He is publicly very attached to his family and his missus only had a kid recently. For some reason I don't see someone who is very attached to his family taking their only grand son away from them for a few years yet...
