Adding DSL filter to monitored house alarm system?

We have a monitered alarm system in our house (like Eircom Homewatch) and I'm being told we have to pay €200 to get a DSL filter attached to it if we want DSL. Needless to say I would rather not pay $200 for 5 minutes wook so I was wondering has anyone any experience of doing this themselves?

There are about 7 or 8 line going into the box so I am unsure which one is the phone line, does anyone know of a way to check if a line is a phone line without cutting it? I'm pretty sure I know which is the mains line bu I would rather not count on luck!

    Cheers
