Galway to Kilkenny

I'm going to the Source Festival thing in Kilkenny on Sunday.

Man the public transport services really suck.

I've used Bus Eireann and Irish Rail's online timetable planner.
Leaving Sunday Morning, the shortest time by bus is six hours with one change and by train is nearly eight hours changing in Kildare.

I figure the best bet is to get an early (Citylink) bus to Dublin and get the first train down. Just under five hours.

Just wondering, and I doubt it, if there are any private buses that do Galway-Kilkenny routes?
Or if anyone has any better suggestions?

That's probably even worse. You'd probably have to go to Clonmel or Waterford first.

Train Galway to Kildare or Newbridge - transfer to the Kilkenny train?

Or you might be quick going all the way to Hueston and gettting the Kilkenny train from there :dunno:

You have 3 options, depending on what time you want to get there.

    1.
    Bus Eireann Galway 09.05 - Limerick 11.10
    Limerick 11.30 - Clonmel 12.55

From Clonmel (if you get there in time and can find where it departs from) there is a JJ Kavanaghs bus at 1.05 (O'Connell Street) that gets into Kilkenny at 1.50

If you miss that (a definite possibility) the next bus is Bus Eireann at 2.30 that gets into Kilkenny at 3.30.

    2. Citylink Galway 06.00 Dublin 09.15
Bus Eireann Dublin 09.30 Kilkenny 11.30 or
Irish Rail Dublin (Heuston) 09.40 Kilkenny 11.26

    3. There is a later bus from Dublin at 12.00 that gets into Kilkenny at 14.00 so you could leave Galway later.
