OK I got Tribes delivered today but I'm having problems. I'm just wondering if any of you had similar problems.

Firstly My system is a PII 450, 128MB with a Voodoo2 and Windoze 98.

The problem is this, I install Tribes, I have got the latest 3dfx drivers and Directx 6.0 but everytime I start the game it hangs my system and all I see is a grey screen. End result reboot my system and no joy, joy, kill, kill.

Any1 have any ideas. (Nice packaging thou !! <IMG SRC="http://lacerta.ucg.ie/boards/tongue.gif" WIDTH=15 HEIGHT=15 BORDER=0 ALT=":P">)

Do you have a USB thingy running? Check out the FAQ's they have covered a lot of this already.

Also look for rogue V2 files. They cause probs as well.

I'll mail Sierra tech support tonight with a description of the problem. If in the meantime anyone else has any idea of the solution please port it here or mail me.

ok Gandalf, I had problems at first, try the following
1. connect to the net, then start tribes
2. IE5 causes problems according to FAQ, if you have it remove it
3. Remove your DirectX drivers (control panel, add/remove progs). then run tribes after restarting and see what it says. mine actually asked for directx 5.x.
4. read the online FAQ <IMG SRC="http://lacerta.ucg.ie/boards/smile.gif" WIDTH=15 HEIGHT=15 BORDER=0 ALT=":)">

i've it running on a number of different PC's, my old P233 at home and a number of new PII 400's here at work, I've it working on them all. its just some sorta driver ****up me thinks

Right I've tried all the above and more and its not working. So I'm going to reformat me HDD and remove 98 (Well I was only looking for an excuse), does Tribes work under NT 4.0 ?????

According to the box, yes. I'm using Win95 OSR2 with the latest 3Dfx drivers and DX6, and I've had no problems, both with the warez download, and the commercial install.

Soz, I don't have a public address man. I could meet ya at some stage next week with a zip disk, but I'd guess it'll have arrived from the states by then.

Gandy,

Here, I had similar problems on my PC. What I found was my windoze 98 Desktop was set too high. When I put it back to 800x600 and ran it, it sorted it out. Donno if its something to do with the TNT card or not. But there yah goes.. Try that.

Btw, get a new pc. That one you have is pretty crappy. I have a brand new ZX Spectrum for sale if your interested.

Eric.
