    Folks,

there is a cleaner working here from Romania, and her work permit spcifies that she must stay working for the one company while here .

now this company is totally exploiting the foreign workers positions and as such is moving them to the city centre to work split shifts all day ,

basically they will have to work from 7am to 10 am 2 until 6 and 7 until 10 in 3 different sites around the city , very very 'not the buzz' .

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a recruitment agency that deals with foreign workers ????

this person has fluent english (including all slang words) .but will need the new place of employment to go through the trasfer of visa papers etc.

thanks in advance for any help,

    Fionn

You could try sending this information to the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment which has an inspectorate to inspect whether employers are adhering to labour law and prosecutions can take place for breaches of the law.

I'd imagine the girl would run the risk of losing her job if reported. Best get her another job first before reporting anything :D

Rumours are that Work Permits are effectively discontinued after the ten new states joined the UE. That's unofficial but facts prove it's rather true. If she's a cleaner, she falls into the Work Permit category as opposed to the Work Visa. Work Visa is issued in only a few designated areas (like IT, health services, etc.) and is NOT tied to the employer but rather to the field of your work. But Work Permits (which are issued for ALL types of skilled/unskilled work) are BOUND to the employer and to change jobs you need a new Work Permit for a different employer. Now, as I said, there are no new Work Permits issued after May 1st, at least, none that I heard of. That's because all the demand, primarily in the unskilled areas, is expected to be filled from the accession countries. But Work Permit extensions for the same employer are pretty much as easy as before. Sorry but this type of workforce is usually cheap and, therefore, not quite interesting for recruitment agencies. At least, Irish. Most of these people come here via their home agencies as this business can make profits in poor countries but not here. Unfortunately, many people in such situations can't count on any help so they basically have two choices: stay abused with the current employer or leave for home. Another (illegal but nevertheless popular) option is to leave and stay here outlawed.

I would urge you to contact the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment at least to get full information. They have an Information Unit which will give you an account of relevant employment law and of the inspection services offered by the Department. You dont have to mention the company name or the persons name to do this. And you could possibly get an inspection done as if it was a random inspection rather than a complaint . This sort of problem must be legislated against and policed by the relevant authorities and they have a duty to do so.
