Good news for fans of The Office (like myself!)

They're planning to release the two Christmas Specials from last Christmas on DVD on October 25th.

No news on any special features yet!

    Pre-order it from Play.com here!

I wouldn't be too sure about that, flogen!

They already have the boxset of Series 1 and 2 available. I wouldn't be too sure if they'd repackage it just for The Christmas Specials.

I already have the first and second series on DVD - and will definantly be buying the Christmas Specials - even if just for Brent's video for 'If You Don't Know Me By Now' alone

    :D

It will happen. I put good money on it.
Bo Selecta had a 1st and 2nd season box set, but do you think they wont have a 'trilogy' set when the 3rd series finishes? Same goes for Phoenix Nights, if a 3rd series is made (please, please god, please).

Its all about money... they could release all 3 seperatly, and then a 3 part set... or each one seperatly, a 2 part set, and then a 3 part set... in the hope that some people may buy more than one of the possible combinations (I'm sure it happens, even if there are no different extras... you get people with more money than sense who buy a box set just for the box, ignoring the fact that they already have the DVD's within, albeit in seperate boxes)

Yeah, good point bout making money. But i just don't think it'd be worth the hassle to repackage the boxset which only went on sale late last year to include 'The Christmas Specials'.

But think about it this way, wouldn't they make more money leaving 'The Christmas Specials' out of a boxset? Cause fans will want to buy the two series (E25 - E30) and the Specials (another E25). So a fan would spend about E50 on that. Whereas if they had a boxset out, they'd cut the price to about E40! ;)

And regarding a third series of 'Phoenix Nights' - it's in the making apparently but it's 'Max And Paddy' (two bouncers who left at the end of Series 2 in the Camper Van). No more Brian Potter or Jerry Sinclair! Love 'Phoenix Nights' myself.

Oh, and by the way, get the two live DVD's by Peter Kay. They're hilarious! He reminds me a little like an English Tommy Tiernan but Tommy's material is more about Irish culture whereas Peter Kay mostly talks about childhood and family. Still, it's hilarious! :D

EDIT: Found this on Patrick McGuinness's ('Paddy' in Phoenix Nights) website:

"You may be aware that "Max and Paddy - Road To Nowhere" will be filmed in the Spring/Summer of this year and perhaps hit our screens before Christmas 2004."

    Should be good stuff!

The BBC are pretty committed to getting stuff out on DVD so Jebus knows where your bloke at work got that idea.

Bloke at work is a fool given the plumetting sales of VHS. Hell even RTE releases stuff on DVD these days :)

    VHS sales are falling alright
I rarely buy them nowadays - unless they're going cheap
Still tape loads off TV but that's different I suppose

When last year's Christmas Only Fools and Horses comes out later this year I'll buy it on VHS - purely because all my OFAH stuff is on VHS

Last Christmas's 'Only Fools And Horses' was terrible though!

The only one of the three Christmas episodes that i enjoyed was the one with the "kidnapping" and "Ga-ry?!"!!

I never laughed so much as i did that Christmas night. That was brillant!!

    "Ga-ry?!" HA HA HA HA!

    :D

Play.com have a few of the series (1-6) for £11.99/£12.99 each at the moment. Even series 7 is 14.99.

It's the specials that'll kill your moneybox. Not on price (almost all a tenner to twelve), it's that there are so many of them.

There's a series 1-7 box set out in November. Retail is 89.99 but Play have it for 66.99, which isn't bad at all provided it doesn't come in cardboard.

Over a day since this was posted but i still can't get over it!

VHS?! The BBC would probably make a loss if they only released it on VHS.

Seriously though, I've saw so many DVD's that i can't watch videos anymore. I notice these little imperfections in the picture that drive me crazy!

But then again, it could just be tracking!!

    "Tracking's touchy!"
