Just bought a tv out cable from compustore (yes yes i know) and its only displaying a black and white picture on the television. The tv is only 4 years old so I dont think thats the problem. Ive an ATI radeon 9000 mobility and its a "Belkin Pro series pc-dvd to tv cable kit". Im running winXP pro.

Anybody know what might be causing the problem?
    Thanks...

You have probably have set the output to secam, or some other standard, instead of PAL.

With the 9800s there's an option to set it to black and white.
I think it was in display properties->settings->advanced->displays
Clicking on the TV brings up another settings window, there should be
a drop down somewhere for sharpness i think, one of the options is
B&W. I'm sure it's the same for the 9000s have a good look and you
should be able to find it.

make sure its set to output in the PAL format we use here (i.e. PAL-I).

This question seems to get asked about once a week here now :)

i'd agree that its a dodgy cable. Read the thread about this that was here a week or two ago. I'm too lazy to rewrite my explanation.

Hmm must have missed that thread. Well, I switched it to PAL-I but now the sound has gone to crap. Its all muffled and full of static. Pictures now in colour.

Im now thinking this wasnt money well spent.
Anyone know how to fix the sound? :(

Try using different channels on your TV. some might work better than others.
