40k Banners

first off, hi, lemming told me about this forum a few months ago to get the DOW video. He is in the same Planetside outit as me. Btw im using the BETA atm and it rocks

right, to my question. Does anybody know of a website(s) that i can download banners, for space marines and orks. I e-mailed GW the otherday and I was told they dont do the banners anymore and i should download them and print them out. But they didnt say from where.

what you could try doing is getting your hands on the 2nd ed. 'Eavy Metal painting guide - it has a load of colour banners in the back. I just scan them in whenever I need one and then print them out. High-resolution scanners & printers are your friend ....

Dunno anywhere that does the blister-pack banner packs anymore, but tbh, they were fairly crap.

not sure exactly, im into soley painting, up till now i have been painting ork and i want a change. Im gonna buy a space marine witha banner because i think they look awesome, but i dont know which one yet.

Nope. That could well be the first edition of the painting guide. The second ed. one has one big battle-scene as it's front cover. Eldar Vs. Space Wolvies I think?

well i just orderd a space marine stadard bearer, gonna paint him as a blood angel

and i found these, would any be usuable on him?

The first top three are librarian banners if I'm not mistaken. The fourth I'm not sure about, but the fifth is most definitely the personal heraldry of Cpt. Tycho

The first on the second row is a terminator squad banner. The second on the second row (and possibly the second on the third row) appears to be a Death Company banner. The first on the third row is, I think, an apocethary banner.

Now, the two big ones are probably more relevant (if you're just doing a company standard bearer or the like). The black-bordered one is the 2nd company banner as denoted by the "2" in the top left corner. The red banner is the chapter banner.

Nah, some of them I remember from way back, and others have markings that denote them as what they are.

For example, the first three all have a book on them, which denotes the librarian. They also have a blue theme inherent in them, which is the colour of the librarian. The fourth I'm not sure about (although could possibly be an apocathery because of the chalice). The fifth is from the Blood Angels character Cpt. Tycho, and is the wing with dripping blood is replicated on one of his shoulder pads.

The first on the second row I remember from way back in 2nd ed. But what reminded me was the "1" at the top, which denotes the squad as being part of the 1st company - ie. Terminator Armour/Honours

The second on the second row bears the mark of teh Death Company - Black with a red cross to signify the wounds of Sanguinius - note the shield bears this mark. The character on the banner is also a skeleton which suggests death.

The first on the third row is an apocathery banner I think since it is not only a predominantly white theme, but also bears a chalice.

The second on the third row is either a Death Company or Chaplain banner. I think it's a Chaplain banner because of the predominantly black theme, althoug there are no red crosses as per the Death Company symbol.

The two big banners are pretty obvious. The black-border one has the number "2" in the corner which denotes the company number, whereas the red border one doesn't and it only carries the name of the Blood Angels and also bears the icon of Sanguinius

Its not that hard to work out the banners really, even I can remember most of them ones posted (didnt get cpt Tyco's one tho), just a case of looking what all is on it, Im not too sure about second on 3rd row either, but it is far too small to be a Death Company banner, it looks like a Power Armour backpack banner, so I would say Chaplin myself, as I never remember seeing any Death Company with just backpack banner's, they usually have Banner Bearer's if Im not mistaken.

Second one on the third row is the Chaplain's banner, when leading the Death Company, afaik anyway.

The Death Company don't have a banner bearer - they're too far gone for that - so the chaplain assigned lead & guide them carries the banner - hence both of the chaplain banners above are back-pack banners

Sanguinius is like the coolest thing to have on a banner like...ever...besides the angel of death on dark angels.
