    Hi

I have an Acer Travelmate 510 that I bought in 1999. I will probably be replacing it soon and am wondering what are my options for the old machine.

The only problems I can see are that it's very slow, probably virus ridden and the battery is knackered. It has bugger all RAM / HDD.

Is this something I could sell?

Laptops are always sought after, simply because they are so handy and portable.

If its in good nick and you spend some time tidying it up (ie re-install everything) then I see no reason why you can't get a few hundred euro for it, depending on spec.

Buy and sell is probably your best bet to get a good price for it.

    Hi

Yes, I definitely think that's possible, but I wouldn't have the technical expertise to fix it up and make it useable. That's why I wanted to know whether anyone with that knowledge would be interested in buying it.

Find out as much as you can about the machine first, cos the guys on the for sale board will want to know every last thing about it (naturally enough) before they buy it.

Ideally you should be able to tell them

    Make / Model
    CPU type and speed
    Ram Size
    Hard Disk size
    Screen size and resolution
Does it have Floppy drive / CD-ROM Drive / Network Card/ Modem etc
What Operating System does it come with
    Any additional Software installed etc.

Is it against the rules to make an offer for it here?
