eircom - not connected - need help :)

hi all,
i hope this is the right place to ask , eircom dont seem to have any asnwers for me
last night, about 8.15, my BB stopped working
i have dsl synch on the router
but when i log into the router poage i get dsl status = disconnected
i have reset the router and checked my username / password
i rang eircom and they suggested resettting the modem anfd reinstalling the software
i did this and it still doesnt work
last night after about 30 mins i can get a signal for about 10 mins
it then went down and hasnt been up since
i asked eircom is there any test they can do or checks i need to do
the guy told me he cant do anything if my dsl is in synch
he said that its a problem at my end
im using a laptop with winxp pro on the ethernet and a dextop with win98 on the usb

its never given me any trouble before and now im at a loss.

i know a bit about computers
and ironically enough work for a british isp so know the usual procedures

btw i just checked my download stats ( if that matters) and im only at 6 gigs
