More competition on the way for insurance sector
    13/07/2004 - 08:33:31

A shake up of the Irish insurance sector is on the cards.

The Tánaiste will travel to London today in a bid to lure cheaper insurance firms to Ireland.

A number of major British insurance companies are expected to begin quoting for business in the Irish market.

The arrival of these firms would mean a cheaper deal through competition across a range of insurance products.

Mary Harney will outline the recent changes in the Irish insurance market including the establishment of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board and the penalty points system in a bid to attract them.

Yes, except motor insurance, which the existing insurance companies will remain in complete control of. ;)
