French TV in Ireland

I came across this page recently, and as a student of the language I'm interested in picking up these French Channels in Ireland. I already have a Sky Digital Dish/Box. Can someone give me some advice as to what additional equipment/modifications I might need? Should I consider an additional dish/decoder? Or replace my current setup with a multi lnb/motorised system? Some of these channels decode to SECAM format - is this a problem with an Irish TV?

Any help for this enthusiastic newbie would be much appreciated :)

Your best bet is to buy an old second hand analog receiver and dish, point it Atlantic Bird 5 West, so you can get TF1, France 2, France 3, arte, France 5 and M6. Also, you will need to check if your television works with SECAM, the French standard for television tranmissions. (They don't use PAL over there like the rest of Europe)

If you're just looking to improve your French you can always just sign up for TV5 on Sky Digitial. TV5 is France's international channel.

    Hi johnKarma,
Maybe you know this but there is about 5 french radio stations on longwave.
A new digital free to air receiver in ROI is about 99 E's
here. and by going down the digital route no worries about the French SECAM. I love the way the French are so unique including the cars!!!!:) :):)
