What players have impressed most so far?

Last night on the Sunday Game Pat Spillane, Kevin McStay and Anthony Tohill were talking about whether or not Mattie Forde should get an All-Star this year. I know it is too early to be talking about all-stars, but what players have impressed you the most so far this year? Often players who put in great performances early in the championship are forgotten if their teams do not progress.

Here are mine. In hurling I have been very impressed with Ken McGrath at centre back for Waterford and Dan Shanahan for the amount of goals that he has been getting for Waterford. From Kilkenny Sheflin has been playing well and scored 2-11(or something like that) yesterday, I have also been impressed with Eddie Brennan and although he has only played two games there Walsh at corner back looks good. Niall McCarthy put in a good performance for Cork against Tipp. For Wexford Fitzhenry, Ryan and Ruth have been great at the back.

In football Mattie Forde has been putting up big scores. Colm McFadden had a great game for Donegal against Tyrone. McGeeney had a good game yesterday for Armagh, and I suppose that Dessie has being doing okay for Westmeath.

I am sure that I have left out loads of performances from just one game or in a number of games so please fill in the gaps!

Hardly breaking news but I think Stephen Mc Donnell has been top drawe for Armagh against both Monaghan and Donegal. I think in the hurling I would also add Mullane to your list of Waterford players. The two Mortimer brothers for Mayo were very strong against Galway but that is the only match I have seen them play, same applies to Kieran Mc Donald.

    Des Dolan
    Mattie Forde
    Colm McFadden
    Ross Munnelly
    Michael Lyng
    Mark McKeever
    (because of their age)

Can't think of too many others that have impressed me.
