Is this card any good?... I just ordered a dell comp (8400) and getting this graphics card and was wondering if it would be any good for the latest games and hopefully half-life 2. On ati.com they said this card was good but I need to know if it will be good for gaming. Here is link to the x300 http://www.ati.com/products/radeonx300/index.html

No link to the Dell pc so I don't know what it is.

Did you get that card with the Dell machine or did you order it seperately?

It's pci-e so it might not even be compatable with the Dell motherboard.

It only has 4 pixel pipelines compared to the 16 pixel pipeline top of the line x800. haven't seen any reviews for it yet but i'd say it perfroms around the level of a 9600pro which isn't too bad and will play the new games.

Don't expect max detail and high resolutions though.

I think the general consensus that was that the card is about the equivalent of a 9800pro. Good, but not top-end.

This seems to be a low-end card. Hope this helps..

its know where near a 9800pro, bloodbath is more correct i think in saying it will be like a 9600.

the benchmark i saw showed it doing 2800 in 3dmark03 a 9800pro will do 5800 and this was actually the X300 not the SE version which will be a fairly crippled version tbh and will do even less.

i'd avoid it like the plague

What is the good in spending a small fortune on the fastest gfx card out there and then sticking it into a Dell?
And yes the x300 is supposedly more like the 9600.

because if the dell has something like a 3.4Ghz processor and a gig of ram it will be a good machine thats why

How much is that card costing you btw?

Does your Dell pc support pci-e?

Why not just get a 9800 pro 128mb. They are retailing for around 200 euro and will play any of the new games for a while.

Then you can get oneof the new cards when they come down in price a bit.
