Anyone still buying cigarettes online?

    Anyone still buying cigarettes online?

If so, is it still fine or are the packages being stopped?

Article 8 of Council Directive 92/12/EEC states that: 'As regards products acquired by private individuals for their own use and transported by them, the principle governing the internal market lays down that excise duty shall be charged in the member state in which they are acquired.'

So I'm thinking this means if the cigarette warehouse is bonded, and I'm acquiring them from that warehouse, I don't need to pay tax... but only if I transport them myself rather than post them?

I know buying cigarettes for personal use is NOT illegal, whether by post or not... I'm just concerned about whether I'd need to pay tax.

    Anyone any pointers?

    Cheers.
