Many of ye may have thought about how you can make a difference in the LGBT community but dont know where to start or what to do - have found it awkward to find a group that suits your own volunteering needs.

Well check out www.johnny.ie they are seeking members - they only really do this about 3 times a year - so if you like what they do .. then read their membership section and drop them a line.

I have included their mail address in this posting - so pop them a line if ya need more info. ...

They have a link in the Links/Resources sticky. Maybe if some of their members posted her on a more regular basis it would spark some dialog and interest.

    Isn't Johnny a Dublin only organisation ?

The group works predominately in the Dublin and greater Dublin area, but they do work on differing occassions around the country.

They are doing cross border event with Rainbow Project (belfast) in early August,
to foster better relations and so that the members can enjoy belfast pride :)

The reason the group cater for gay and bisexual men - is because they are funded to do so (ERHA funding is that specific), but I have heard that they are chaning
their scope and may have female members soon enough - they have to make sure that it does not effect their funding and that they can provide female related services - at the moment they can't - they dont have any related std packs etc ...

It was JOHNNY who but pressure on the GHN - Gay Health Network to accept female members.

They list this clearly in their membership section under 'who can join'
