just back from there a few weeks ago..
Had a great time but a strange city..
Not at all tourist friendly.. very few people speak English..
    Excellent public transport..

The Ruskies seem to have difficulty smiling but that don't mean
that they are not interested in what you have to say.
    (if they understand you)

    Kremlin, Red Sq are nice..
St Basils Cathedral (in Red Sq) is a spectacle outside
    but not very impressive inside..
Lenins Tomb (also in Red Sq) closes quite early.
I reckon it'd be worthwhile to make the effort
to see the preservec Mr Lenin.

There's a few corrupt cops in Red Sq who check passports,
and invaliably find a problem with yer visa, resulting in you
having to pay a 'fine' in cash directly to the cop.
Apparantly if you take out yer mobile and say yer gonna phone
the embassy, they will let you go..

    entertainment:
Propaganda is a cool spot..(albeit hard to find)
Lotsa other cool spots in the area, including one downstairs joing
I just can't remember the name of...
(It's got an upstairs dance area too, .. downstairs is generally live music)

Airport is a kip.. lotsa rip-off taxi drivers outside..
yer best off getting the minibus outside for 30rubels,
which will bring ya to the nearest metro stop..

    Enjoy
    R
