Book-dwelling bugs

Does any body know the names of those tiny little bugs that live in books? (I'm assuming there's more than one kind).

Even better, do you know anything about their life-cycle? How do they travel from book to book? What sort of habitat did they have before books became commonplace?

    Thanks!
