Bit Torrent Client Choice

    Hi all;
    What do you consider the best Bit Torrent Client; and why?

    I'm definetly green when it comes to Bit Torrent mechanics; but i'm getting annoyed that my upload nearly always considerably surpasses my download. Both are uncapped and i've maximum connections put at 5. It's my understanding that the clients are basically a front end to the engine so changing clients wouldn't necessarily do anything beneficial? :confused:

    configure it so that your max upload speed is about 80% of your upstream capacity (assuming you're on DSL here). Set the max connections back to whatever its default is. You should experience much faster downloads then.

    I use "shadow's experimental" client.

    I use Shadow's Experimental too, now called BitTornado.

    Azureus for me too. I like the plugin that lets you manage your downloads remotely. If you see something handy at work during the day, you can connect to your home PC and start the download off...

    I'm trying out Bitcomet at the moment and its pretty good ...

    I'd say start with Bittornado (was called shadows experimental before) and see if you get a yellow or green dot when downloading ... yellow means that you havent configured your firewall(s) correctly .... having larger uploads than downloads is one of the symptoms of ports blocked

    Also be aware that because of ISP's blocking ports etc. some people/sites are using non standard ports (I had a torrent last night on port 6400)

    Thats what I use, with DSL and it downloads at a regular 40- 50 kbs.
    It's the cheese.

    Thanks for all the replies guys:) BitTornado did the job nicely; that green / yellow light indicator was great for diagnosis; now getting d / l speeds in the range of 20 - 40kbs; as opposed to 1 - 3kbs:cool:
