If you work for a recruitment agency...?

    And it says in your terms and conditions, your agreement may be terminated either by you or the company your working for or by the agency themselves as long as three days notice is given in writing. Who the hell do i give the letter in writing too?

    I would like to if possible avoid giving it to the place I am currently working as they think I am there for life and are training me in new places constantly so they can have rotation in the work place so people will not get bored. I work with four other people on the shift, and basically all it is is going in and working. There is hardly any talking. I just feel pretty uncomfortable with suddenly telling them I will be leaving so can I just tell the recruitment agency and let them deal with it?

    Also, if you are a temp in the work place, and you leave say four months into a 6month contract. Will the recruitment agency get pissed off with you for doing this and not help you find work again?

    Also, how do recruitment agencys make their cash???

    And how does one get a reference? This is my first full time job with a proper salary etc and I have had it since april but will be leaving End of August as I am going back to third level.

    Either the companies looking for temp staff pay them (good) or they take a cut out of the staff's wages (bad)

    Obviously stick to the first sort.

    "You sound like me, which was ironically the young me" - man i was so in your position, IBM trained me for 2 weeks, i worked for 4 and went back to college at the end of the summer, sap supervisors were talking about training me up on other machines n' all but luckiy as i had worked thru recruitment agencies before i knew that they're bollockes and are to be treated like they can treat you - little notice, IF ANY!

    Your conscience is like knocks of beggermen and not to be noticed! Sounds like you're not working for a super-hyper-global-copy-meganet company but d'mind about notice, give them a week and say 'Lookit i'm leaving to go back to college'

    As a wise woman i once asked this very question to, said: "F*ck them". Kinda worry for your nice supervisor who can't find good staff and is a nice guy, but F*CK those recruitment f*cks.(i think it's clear how i stand with recruitment chaps) Who cares if they won't be hot for finding you work in a years time i.e. they'll have you on file n' all but will hire you again i presume, plus after college there'll be other jobs and other recruitment agencies.

    Since you were there for so long your manager/supervisor guy should be sound enough to be the reference, no manager worth his salt would be such a sap as to get snotty about a good guy who's continuing education, 4 out of 6 months isn't bad aswell man, check out my IBM craic above, for my IBM scenario i just put Multiflex as my reference where some HR chick rings them to check that i actually worked there and wasn't lying about it.

    Both, probably. Chances are the recruitment agency are dealing with your pay. Not telling either one of the pair can end up with them taking longer to sort out your pay at the end, and may cause you major headaches.

    You're not working for them, you're working for you. Loyalty to a company is nice, but you should never feel obliged to stay there for any reason. As said, it might feel **** leaving your mates, but no-one will ever hold a grudge against you, or hate you for leaving. You're expected to leave at some point. No company, especially in IT, is expecting staff to stay longer than a few years.

    Your contract should say what the terms are for terminating the contract. If it doesn't say, you're legally obliged to give one week. The recruitment agency won't really give that much of a ****. But they may only put you up for jobs where they paid when you're hired (agencies will only do what is worth cash to them).

    Walk up to your supervisor with the letter in hand. Explain to him/her that you're leaving, why you're leaving, and when you're leaving. Don't leave it to him to read the letter. That should just be a formality, and not really required. Towards the end of the conversation, work in the question, "Is it possible that I could use you as a reference in future?". He'll either say yes, no, or tell you who you can use.
