problem with tvout colour n quality

bought a pc for a divx box , got a crapp 64mb pci radeon 7000,
got tvout fine, but its crappy crappy quality, the films arein black n white nearly[ odd bit of green n pink], ive messsed about with it for ages, cant seem to get it right, tv tool only supports nvidia cards so thats out:/

any ideas?? also its all very very vague, can bearly make out the start menu,

any help appreciated

Firstly, a TV is a low resolution display, so it will be extremely hard to read text off the screen from documents, your start menu etc. This is normal.

Secondly, providing you are using the cables that came with the card, the only possible reason for the black and white is that you havn't set the country region thingy on your card. Try setting it to Pal (France). If that doesn't work, try every country/region possible.

i am usin a svideo cable that i just have, i didnt get a cable with the card,

i know about thetext thats fine, but i need colour really,

anmy ideas?

Krispie, where abouts are you living. I have a similar card (a 9600 pro) and i had your problem when i used my Nvidia supplied svideo cable. When i used the one i used to use with my Geforce3 i had black&white only, but when i used the one supplied with the card, i got full colour.

I could drop over with my cable to test it for you, if you can't lay your hands on another one. You could always try the place you got the card.

i got the card second hand off boards here, ill have a look around for a the radeon cable and see if it makes a diff..

Make sure the card is outputting in PAL-I. If you set it to france (PAL-Secam) it will look black and white.

Yeah, why in the name of Jebus would you set it to Secam?? Make sure it's Pal-I and it will work perfectly. Be warned though, it's not always the easiest thing in the world to do. My dad's laptop had it hidden deep in bowels of the graphics card settings.

if the worst comes to the worst, contact komplett.ie and see if they can get one out to you. You should probably be able to pick one up from them easily enough if everywhere else fails.
