Hi I hope someone can help.

I got this Spiderman CD free with the Mirror on Saturday. I put in in the CD /DVD drive this lunchtime for a quick look. When I turned the PC on this evening when I got home I can't see either CD drive in Windows Explorer.

It's a Dell Dimension 4500 PC. The top drive is a DVD/CDROM combo and the other drive is a CD Rewriter and they're gone! I can still see the a: drive though.

When I stick in a DVD and start up the DVD player (PowerDVD) and press play I get an alert saying
    No disc in drive @:

Does anyone have any ideas? It doesnt look like any software installed itself off the disc - it was just an autoplay thing.

I found the invoice. All it says describing the drives is:
    40 x CDRW and 16 x DVD
    SW DVD Decoder for XP

Well; does your BIOS at least pick up the drives when the computer is booting up?

right click my computer -> manage -> device manager -> dvd/cd-roms

See if its in there! Its possible that the cd needed to install something to make the CD run.. so it prolly messed with the drivers or what not.

Em, if its not there you can see if there are drivers for the cd-rom that you can reinstall... if you dont have them with your dell cds then take the product id and google it with download drivers at the end and that should get them.

Dell do buy shoddy harddrives, cdroms and pritty much everything else is shoddy two.

    Hope thats some help!
