    Hello,

I'm not posting this in wireless, as it's mainly a Hardware issue - just coincidence hardware == wireless card.

Few things I'm enquiring of ...

    1) Looking for places to get miniPCI wireless cards - if anyone knows of places [other than IT Direct & Elara] please let me know.

    Secondly, have Thinkpad R31 (2656-J2U),
As far as I am aware, this is one of few models which doesn't have annoying 'checks' to make sure the wireless card you enter is 'valid', however on any IBM/Intel/Valid card I look at check, it doesn't mension the R31 [or this model at least] as being compatible.
The laptop does have a miniPCI slot, however no internal antenna [this is next section of query].
The driver package says different versions include have added extra models to the list of workingness - however mine, again not mensioned.
I know Wireless cards will work - however will I have to go for non-IBM, and just get random Orinco etc?
[If so - again back to point #1, where hell I get them ...]

    Thirdly,
Wish to get Antenna Kit for R31 - It's IBM part, and IBM UK do not ship to Ireland, and IBM Ireland do not sell to non-resellers.
IBM-Resellers will not sell to end-users, or do not have / cannot get / will not get the part.
Any of you know of a _good_ IBM reseller, who is any way decent, or know of way to by pass this suitation.
The kit only costs about 20 euro, however prepared to pay bit more as it's being such headache to try find this anywhere.

By the way - if you wish to entertain yourselves go into Shops and ask for miniPCI.
I got told i was looking for Low-profile PCI, Normal PCI, PCI Express, PCMCIA, and after I said it wasn't PCMCIA, told that miniPCI does not exist - as they hadn't heard of it - didn't have heart to tell them they had a miniPCI card on their website, for sale apparently.

    Regards,

    SeanOS

Does the laptop not have a PCMCIA slot anyway?

    Course it does.

But internal with antenna either side of screen
lot better than thing sticking out of laptop which has smallish antenna .... comes down to prefer internal one using pci bus.

It's possible to do it - as found out from Linux Thinkpad lists, just thougth someone here may have experience, since thinkpads used in fair few companies.
