    Hi,
I was wondering is it possible for me to lodge a cheque to my bank account which is in my dads name as long as it is signed on the back by him?

Yes, you should be able to do this.

as long as it is not crossed on the front i.e. two parallel lines with account payee only typed/written in, a lot of company cheques have this pre-printed
