this appeared in the sunday tribune business section

this was by a duetsche bank analyst graham eadie

    i quote
"operating in a relatively inflationary environment enables the company to acheive attractive price increases. that task is made all the easier by the fragmented nature of its customer base. unlike the uk, the irish on-trade is still highly disparate, which helps price increases stick.
this ability to push through price increases enabled c&c to lift the price of bulmers by 4% this month following a similiar price hike from diageo. as a result the irish cider business should deliver top line growth of 5% this year despite a tough trading environment.

the article goes on, i doubt c&c chairman would like to see this in print basically saying that the irish beer distributors can push price increases through with little resistance. its not suprising i buy my wine in france and the rest of my drink (french beer) in lidl these people are not getting my money.
anyone from the vintners assoc. got a line on this
