I asked IBB early June about this and their reply was "in the next few months"...

So it could any time from... now !

But I wouldn't hold my breath.

I remember CableLink (NTL) website from December 1998 saying they would be rolling out broadband in the next few months... same answer every six months for 4 years when I was calling them !

Anyway... with IBB it's shouldn't take too long (it's in their interest)... but I guess upgrading all the transmitters, testing everything...etc... must take some time and I guess they're stretched between setting up new customers, supporting existing customers and getting the 3.5ghz running... and then upgrading everyones equipment... I think the later is going to be the slow part.

    Early upgraders are gonna have the network pretty much to themselves for a while... lucky b a s t a r d s !

Especially as they are already running radio and newspaper advertisements for Ripwave! It's not just us geeks anymore!

Just got it today the new 3.5ghz service.( ordered it ages ago).
It works perfectly, even got it working over 3 computers using ICS.
Only problem is it needs to be put up high, either first floor or attic to get a green signal light and it only has a usb connection ( no ethernet).

I'm in the Ballinteer area, the three rock mast.

*cough* its not a rumor, i can prove that i've been limited

**goes and double checks speeds, by disabling the "avoid ISP traffic limiting" option in his client**

Surprise surprise, still limited. Here's a screenshot. Among those 27 downloads i started simutaenously just to prove i'm limited by my ISP, not by other peoples upload speed, are three people with 10mb+ upload.

As can be seen from the graph, i can't even get 1/3 of my connection. The first big red spike was a download in MSN :p the second small red block is when the DC++ downlaods finally kicked in. The period of "non-usage" was DC++ trying to download. DC++ was running 27 downloads for the entire time that graph shows.

Well in fairness Mutant Fruit, i remember you saying you downloaded 130GB a month off IBB, so i'd say their tolerance is quite high. You must have really been pushing it.

In recent times i havn't been. I've eased off quite a bit since those days. I generally wouldn't go over 50gb a month. In fact, last month as only 15gb, less than the IOL cap.

But this month is gonna be large again, as there are quite a few more DVD releases in www.sharingthegroove.org that i want to nab. Its not often interpol turn up online :p

The point is, it is advertised as having no limits, and they have imposed limits! I should also point out that 70% of my downloading is actually done via bittorrent and sharingthegroove, not DC++, so if they were limiting me, why not kill bittorrent?

Im not sure if its limiting or they are just having some speed problems-certainly my connection was very very good last week but its gone down somewhat this week across everything im using-and im not really downloading that much at all...I'm on the 8:1-ill keep an eye on it and report back...

the only problem i have with speeds is with DC++. that smacks of limiting to me. Everything else is perfect...

You had the option of USB or ethernet when you ordered it (at least I did!)
My plan is to stick it and a wireless router in the attic and forget about it.
