IOLBB+networking

    Hey all.

I know there's probably loads of post's about this sorta thing already but im a total n00b when it comes to networking. We currently have IOLBB on the main pc through a zyxel p630 usb modem that IOL supplied. This is my brothers pc and we are building another one in the next few days. We want to network the two pc's together and share the IOL connection and also have room for xbox live which is currently set up through ICS . What is the best/easiest way to do this without spending a fortune. I'd prefer something wireless (from komplett if possible) as that's where I'm buying the pc bits from. I had a look on their networking section but it's all a blur to me, switches/access point's/gateways?!?!?

    Thanks for any help

I use a 5 port switch to share my iolbb between two pc's. They are cheap enough. All you need is 3 cat-.5 cables. One from your modem to the switch and the other two from the switch to the two pc's. Not wireless I know but the latencies will be better.

Thanks for the suggestion. I really would prefer wireless though. Is their latency problems with wireless? We are both gamers so that's mainly why we want them networked as well as sharing IOL. If wireless is laggy it might be better to look at using a wired setup even though it will be a pain in the @ss:D

the zytel 630 does not have a network port so you will need a modem with a router built in

I have IOL BB, got one of these:

    A doddle to set up.

Not into gaming so can't speak about latency, however I live in an old house with thick brick walls so I don't get reception in all the rooms. Something else to consider.

    HTH.

Went with a wired setup in the end. Netgear DG834 Looks like it will do the job. Thanks for all the advice.
