If I have a car (VW Passat '01) with a cassette unit that seems to be a generic VW jobber what options do I have if I want to put in a CD Player?

The 'head unit' is the part of the radio/casette/cd/mp3 player that fits in the dashboard of the car.

You typical options are to fit a CD bootchanger, well, in the boot - assuming it would be compatable with the existing 'head unit' or replace the existing 'head unit' with a CD player

In the end I bought a "Sony MVGS003 + CDX-T70MX CD/MP3 Changer" from In Car Express

BTW - that pice of kit in the post above is fairly cool:D

I bought a 30GB Zen Xtra MP3 player and a tape adaptor. It's just as good and a lot cheaper without having to feck about with a load of wiring.
