    Marlon Brando Dead at 80

Marlon Brando died Thursday night in Los Angeles, according to the local CBS affiliate in Los Angeles this morning. The cause of death is still unknown.

Brando was recently in the news when it was disclosed that the retired recluse owed more than $28 million, and was reportedly hiding his Oscars for On the Waterfront and The Godfather for fear they would be seized by debt collectors.

An article in London's Sunday Times says the slumming Brando complained to court officials last year that he scraped by on two pensions worth roughly $7,600 a month, while an ex-lover and maid, who also once engaged him in a court battle, lived in a bigger, better domicile than he.

A truely great actor. His performance in the Godfather was one of my alltime favourite moments in films. R.I.P.

Can't say I'm moved except to note how sad it is when once "great" actors allow themselves to slide away into
    ignoble obcurity through destructive choices...

Mortality is tragic, yes. False bravado and lack of sentiment is also another tragedy. But that's a different thread entirely.

Hollywood won't be the same without Mr. Brando.

Don't be such a prat. A legend is dead, the least we can do is acknowledge him.

This from the person who pays respect to some sort of a cartoon thing in his signature. Well done on priorities.

Yep, sad to see Brandon gone but lets get things into perspective. He was already washed up as an actor by the 1960's and it took Copolla to get two final stellar performances out of him.

Still we'll always have stuff like Streetcar, The Wild One and On the Waterfront to remeber his talent by.

In the Evening Herald this evening they said that he was finishing making script changes to a new film he was working on "Brando and Brando" and that it was due to start production next month.

The producer, Ridha Behi said he's still going on with the film, about a "young Tunisian who journeys to the U??S in pursuit of the American Dream - embodied by Brando.

Some Actors are blessed with a touch of genius and talent. Brando was one of the few whose contribution will be remembered and enjoyed by generations yet to come.

It's good that he lived a long life, and made great films. RIP.
