Is this the name of the cartoon? One of the BEST, ever. period.

Remember the people that went through some rollercoaster and got transported to where i dont know, a different world/time period. actualy i'd like to know that ...

The little wizard guy, bald with a long grey beard and red coat, who used to appear and give advice or some crap. And then the dragons. Oh the fantasy of it all.

None of my mates remember it. Infact my mates suck. They dont remember mr.ben either..

I vaguely remember seeing such a series, must have been the early/mid-1980s.

I think you'll find the cartoon was based on the games that had already been around for quite a while. A colleague at my first place of employment back in 1983 was always playing D&D via computer.

As for Mr. Benn, as a young child of the early 1970s I remember it well! Like many of the British cartoons of the time, the extremely low-budget and cardboard-cutout type of animation gave it a certain quirky kind of charm. :)

How come the cartoon series never even mentioned THAC0 or HP?

Good point. I wanted it to be accurate to the game so Dungeon Master would have to say, "Welcome to the world of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons First Edition incorporating the Unearthed Arcana expansion set!" since - technically if I remember - the character classes featured in the show come from those sets and NOT Dungeons & Dragons...

And also the show is now on DVD :)

Nope. In either Baldur's Gate I or II, there's pictures of the gang on the wall detailing how they never got home :D

Am watching this series just now. It's pretty good.

    Some points tho.

    1. There doesn't seem to be any 'origin' episode (ie an ep where it shows them entering the D+D world). The credits are all we get?

    2. In all the eps the two girls Sheila and Acrobat (she's so irrelevant I don't even know her name) are completely superfluous and must have just been thrown into the mix as the last second as some token gesture?

    3. I think this show probably failed as a marketing tool as whilst I remember loving this show as a kid I (a) have never bought a D+D product (b) to this day have never played D+D (c) didn't even realise D+D WAS a boardgame until about 10 years ago.

Well, back to the show now....

we have it on dvd - there is an intro type ep at the start but as moggie says none where they get home. It was freaky once the music played - i could remember watching it years ago.
