Delete post problem

I noticed a post I made in the Humour forum had already been posted so within a few minutes I tried to use the "delete post" option at the top of the "edit post" page.
I then got a message saying that I did not have the authority to do this.
There had been no reponses to the post at the time.

Did I do something wrong or is the "delete post" option not available to any posters except mods & admins?

You can't delete a post that's the start of a thread. This is to stop people who've been flamed/made to look stupid in a thread from deleting their post and wiping out a whole thread.

The mods on Humour read everything. Just edit it to say "mod, please delete".
