    Guys,

    a quick question.

My probation period was up at the beginning of last month. I had to go chasing my boss to see what was happening.
We had a meeting and my boss decided that my probation should be extended (much to the dismay of my supervisor).
To date I have not received a letter stating that my probation period has been extended.

If I was to be a position with another company what should my notice period be?
In the initial offer letter for my current position it is one week for either side during the probation period.

So I am thinking 1 week.

    Tip.

    It's one week. Doesn't matter that it's extended - it's still probation.

A company can push your probation period on for up to a year. During that time, you are at the mercy of whatever your probation contract was.

Well the Job offer came through and I think I'm gonna play fair and give 2 weeks

TBH they had no qualms keeping you on a one week notice so you should repay the compliment. One week it is, especially if the pay is better in the new place.

If you've agreed a minimum period of notice in your contract then it applies. Otherwise the statutory is one week if you've been in the job more than 13 weeks. Before 13 weeks (without a contract stipulated period) you can just walk.
