Be interested to hear what people are paying in maintenance. If you don't want to post it in the open, feel free to email adam AT beecher DOT net, I promise to keep it in confidence and not judge. I'd just like to know for the record if I'm being tight as fork or too generous. I'm thinking the former, albeit unintentionally. :)

I pay 400 a month, by standing order, then would also buy clothes or anythgn else needed, so it's hard to say exactly what I pay.

I've heard of some people paying alot less. I've also heard of one guy who was asked to pay more because his ex bought a new car and her insurance went up (There was nothing wrong with her previous car.)

Does anyone know if there is a set amount required by law?

I hear the min is €50 pw depending on circumstances, its not set in stone but it wouldn't pay for one trip to the doctor if the kid was sickly, never mind anything else.

At the end of the day is also down to what someone can afford and also the value they put on their kid

People can be mean its a fact, where as other just dont have it.

someone on the dole can bay as little as €10 a week if he can get the right solicitor.

someone with a job can probably get away with at minimum €25 a week per child if he has a rented flat and bills and is living alone. you would want to be on something like €300 a week to get that
